DESCRIPTION
Discovery, Change and Oppression: The impact of the Spanish conquest
In this course, students will compare and contrast individual and collective perspectives about discovery, change, oppression and consequences by studying the historical period of Spanish Discovery and Conquest of the Americas (1492-1779). Students will utilize all modes of communication (interpretive, interpersonal and presentational) to build skills in cultural-linguistic competencies necessary for successful communication with native speakers. Students will utilize media and authentic texts to discuss the diverse cultural products, practices and perspectives of the Spanish-speaking world.
